Banned candy for my kids

I do not wish to smear the name for any company or type of candy. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am a sweet-tooth and I love candy. But over the years I have learnt that just as we choose our close acquaintances, we also need to scrutinize our food, especially our sweet stuff. Eventhough they are "Goldie oldies" or "family traditions". So here goes. I will not reveal the name of this candy or company and this is just for my kids; not YOURS. You make the decision for your own kids based on your own research. We are each responsible for ourself and those under our care.

I scrutinize the labels on "chewy candies"  (in fact all kinds of candies and confectionaries) and I try my best to avoid candies which list sugar as the main ingredient and I particularly try to avoid those which list bovine gelatin as their ingredient. In this one, I also avoid because of how the makeshift halal label. But I don't always rely on the halal label. To me, JAKIM's authority can be trusted but after looking for a label, the second crucial point is the ingredients list.

That's all for now.
