Taking the red pill means accepting the true nature of the life of this world, of accepting the reason we were created (purpose of life), and of responsibility for all the decisions we have to make and having the will/willingness to shoulder the hard work that follows. Sometimes the hardwork just means going the distance to gain knowledge about something prior to making a decision about it. At other times hardwork means restraining ourself from (short term) pleasure because of their (long term) harmful effects. For example, from sugary foods or from losing our patience/temper/temperament. And going through the hardwork also means enduring any form of punishment brought on by others, if i may say, from "blue pills" or those who have interest in power and control.
We make these choices continuously everyday. Sometimes there is a need to be "plugged in", but the need to be online, looking for and gathering info isn't as essential and primal as being in reality (as opposed to virtual reality) and eventually, partaking in making choices based on the info we gained and collected, and later, accepting its outcome and perhaps more effort and hardwork
Partaking in "social networking" or "socializing" is needed, but it can never replace socializing in the real world. Obviously also,it needs more effort, it involves less convenience. Effort isn't necessarily bad, and convenience isn't necessarily good.
